Brief Description:  Paint glareshield

Made provisions on the glareshield for a magnetically mounted remote GPS antenna for the AV8OR. I flush riveted a steel "knockout" from a metal electrical junction box to the glareshield and made a 5/16" hole for a grommet to pass the antenna lead through. The antenna is mounted off center because I expect I'll have a magnetic compass near the center of the glareshield and I didn't want the steel too close to the compass. I haven't noticed any degradation of performance with a GPS antenna at an angle as it will be here.

I cleaned the glareshield with soap/water and a ScotchBrite scuff pad, dried it and wiped it down with Prep-All wax and grease remover, primed it with Duplicolor 1690 Self-Etching primer and applied a topcoat of Krylon 51613 Satin Black paint. I'm sure those reading these posts on the web think this is excessive trivia, but it gives me a future reference if paint compatibility problems develop or I need to do touch-ups.

I got tired of the ailerons flopping around whenever I bumped it, so I cut a short piece of water hose to act as a temporary retainer.
